Miller's Action Speed Shooting (M.A.S.S)
Looking for a new and fun way to get involved with indoor shooting this winter? Join us and try action speed shooting at steel "knockdown" targets.
Work to challenge yourself and learn to shoot quicker and more accurately.
Fun. Fast. Affordable. Family friendly!
Advanced registration on Practiscore is recommended since matches often fill.
This event is open to ages 10 and older. New shooters are always welcome and new shooters and Juniors (under 18) shoot FREE! (Match entry fee is waived by AIM-COMM in an effort to encourage new participants and to support youth marksmanship opportunities.)
Email firstname.lastname@example.org for a link to register free if you are new to this match or a junior shooter under the age of 18.
This fun, family-friendly, and fast-paced shooting sports event is similar to Steel Challenge shooting but is adapted for a 50-foot indoor range setup.
Starting at a low ready position, when the timer horn sounds, you fire at steel "knock-down" targets set up about 50 feet downrange from your point at the firing line. Your goal is to hit and knock down each of the steel plates, making sure you hit and knock down the red steel plate last. (This serves as your "STOP" plate.) Your time is your score for each string and you will fire multiple strings. Your lowest scoring (longest time) string is dropped (doesn't count).
You don't need expensive, specialized firearms or accessories to participate. You will need:
- a .22 LR pistol or rifle (or centerfire handgun for centerfire matches) that is in safe working order
- an empty chamber indicator (ECI, chamber flag - plastic weed trimmer line makes a great inexpensive ECI) for your firearm(s)
- a case for your firearm(s)
- ammunition (no magnum ammo)
- eye and hearing protection
AIM-COMM uses Practiscore for Miller's Action Speed Shooting matches for competitor registration, score input and match results. During the matches, Shot Timers are used that capture shot times and sync the information with mobile tablets running the Practiscore app to record scores for each shooter and to manage match results.
PractiScore.com is a website for helping match directors run their matches and clubs. It also hosts scores for matches.
PractiScore is a free scoring app for managing and scoring shooting matches. It runs on Android or iOS.
PractiScore apps provide a free Practical Shooting match scoring system running on mobile phones and tablets. With the PractiScore app a match director can build stages in a match, register shooters, enter scores and calculate match results, all on the mobile device. Because PractiScore shares data with other mobile devices, you can have multiple squads scoring at the same time.
PractiScore is supported by advertising on their website and also by donations from sports clubs and practical shooters.
There is a paid app called PractiScore Competitor that is used to view and manage a competitor's match results.
Ken Nelson, a long time software entrepreneur and President of NiftyBytes, is the developer of PractiScore.
