TAPS is a United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) affliated club. The program emphasis is on Safety, Education, and Training, complimented by and achieved by Skill Development and Competition.
Club NEWS! Vote for the Board of Directors! Directly after our October match we will be having a TAPS meeting at the HEDR indoor range classroom where you will be able to vote for all positions on the Board of Directors. Positions include: President, Match Director, Training Officer, Scoring Officer, Quarter master, Secretary & Registration You will be able to nominate anyone that is interested in a position, including yourself! Voting will take place and the change of positions will be effective at that time. It is important for everyone who enjoys shooting to take part in the efforts that keep the club running. All past BOD members will be there to help you learn your new positions and make the transition as easy as possible. Let's keep it fun for everyone! TAPS MEMBERSHIP TAPS has assumed a membership structure as of January 2009. It is not mandatory but comes with perks. Annual dues will be $40 for USPSA members and $50 for non-USPSA members. Members will be entitled to vote for officers at the annual meeting. They will receive a discount of $8 at monthly matches and a discount to be determined at special matches. Match fees will be; $20 for non-members, $15 for active duty military, and $12 for club members. There may be additions to the perks at any time. Please Read! In order to compete in our matches, shooters must either have a USPSA or IDPA classification or attend our New Shooter Safety Orientation. Arrangements must be made in advance (or the instructor may not be available). You will need your hearing and eye protection, pistol, a holster that covers the trigger, magazines, mag pouches, ammunition, a belt to hold it all and anything else you plan to use for the match. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to schedule your orientation. Matches will be designed with the goal of shooting 4 different stages per day. You should plan to bring 80 - 100 rounds per match. That will allow you to shoot the days stages safely.
September 11 & 12 Match NEWS - Anyone interested in helping with stage setup please be at the connex at 8am to help load props then setup stages. The purpose of the TAPS PROGRAM is to promote tactical and practical shooting safety and marksmanship training opportunities at the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range (HEDR), and in Fairbanks, Alaska, and surrounding communities.
