AIM-COMM's Shooting Leagues
Alaska's most popular Bullseye Pistol league shooting program!
ABOUT AIM-COMM'S SHOOTING LEAGUES...
League n. Sports an association of teams or clubs that compete chiefly among themselves. Leagues.
Participating in an organized shooting league is an excellent way to improve your shooting ability. Leagues offer regular practice in a structured, friendly, and competitive environment. The shooting leagues hosted at the Alaska Department of Fish & Game (ADF&G) Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range (HEDR) are designed for shooters of all skill levels, from beginner to expert, ages 10 and older! AIM-COMM's league shooting program is Alaska's most popular bullseye pistol shooting program and is likely the world's farthest north program of its kind! When it is 40 below zero (degrees F) out in the middle of a Fairbanks' winter, AIM-COMM league shooters can often be found at the indoor range practicing their shooting skills.
HISTORY...
League shooting began at the range in the fall of 2000, in an effort to offer community members a safe and structured, yet fun, social shooting event. ADF&G sponsored and hosted the league and worked to organize shooters who could administer league business. Partly from that effort, AIM-COMM, the Alaska Interior Marksmanship Committee, was born. AIM-COMM today is a strong and growing group of shooters dedicated to promoting safe firearms handling and shooting. The leagues are a program of the Competitive Shooting Division of AIM-COMM. AIM-COMM league participants include state pistol champions and national record holder shooters as well as grandmas and grandchildren who enjoy target shooting and the social aspects of the league program.
JOIN A LEAGUE!...
If league shooting sounds like something you might be interested in, check out the information on this site about AIM-COMM's shooting leagues. You can also stop by the range and we can answer your questions and introduce you to current league shooters.
AIM-COMM's shooting leagues are administered primarily by the AIM-COMM League Council in partnership with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) Hunter Education Indoor Shooting Range (HEDR). The League Council conducts most of the business of the league and performs much of the behind the scenes work to make the leagues safe, successful, and fun for all. The League Council members are all volunteers. The ADF&G range project director serves as an advisor on the council.

I think maybe the first criteria for attaining the coveted Most Improved Shooter award is to start out with a score in the basement like mine was. The next step is to care about improving that low score. Of course, I neglected this second step and apathetically made my way through match after match, not really noticing how much my scores were improving. So, needless to say, I was shocked to receive the MIS award in the .22 league. I tend to be one of the casual shooters who joined the league to have fun and let the scores take a back seat to being involved with a really great group of people. I always get a lot of encouragement from other shooters, both from ones who have scores like mine and those who always see their names at the top, approaching ever closer to the elusive 900.
